Black Den (previously known as the Phaction) is a band with various interlocking core members, consisting of Naheem Shabazz on Trombone, Emilio Virella on Trumpet, Alex William Petty on Keys, and Shawn West on drums, but for which extends to other musicians who play bass, saxophone, cello, and various other musical instruments. The band commonly combines with Chuckie Campbell to make Chuckie Campbell and The Black Den Movement. To date, they've done some exciting work, bringing a rather dynamic live show that makes for a jazzy, eclectic approach to hip hop.  Together, they have touched 46 states, attended A3C, SXSW, NXNE, shared stages with Pharoahe Monch, EPMD, Ghostface Killa, Ras Kass, Pete Rock, Cage, Black Milk, Blueprint, Chris Rivers, Crooked I, Killa Priest, Shabaam Sahdeeq, Tanya Morgan, Moka Only, Ceschi Ramos, Psalm One, Darktime Sunshine, Akrobatik, and more.  Chuckie Campbell and Black Den were also the winners of Canalside Buffalo's Battle of the Bands for the opportunity to play in front of 15,000+, opening for EnVogue and took home two ArtVoice Awards for Best Hip Hop Act and Best Original Music. In the past, they have played TEDx Youth Buffalo's Innovation Next Conference as a part of their TED Talk series, and contributed to the Anne Frank Project that happens every year at SUNY Buffalo State.
